Artist Statement
Central to my artistic philosophy is the theory of complementary opposites, where our technical/digital selves find balance with our organic and natural selves. In today's fast-paced and technology-driven world, there is a growing disconnect between humanity and the natural world. I intend to employ rope as a powerful symbol that bridges the gap between these opposing forces and encourages harmonious coexistence.
Rope, which humans have utilized since prehistoric times for hunting, lifting, and climbing, holds a profound historical significance. While its uses and production methods have evolved, rope remains an enduring element in human life, connecting us to our ancient roots.
In my creative process, I carefully integrate a distinctive combination of rope, paint, a splash of ocean water, and other natural and technical materials, placing emphasis on line, shape, and negative space. By juxtaposing organic and synthetic elements, I strive to capture the delicate balance between our increasingly digitized world and the raw beauty of nature.
As I’m transitioning from my work as an Art Director + Creative Director for Fortune 500 fashion brands, I hope to bring a wealth of experience to my fine artwork, offering a unique perspective. While combining rope with mixed media materials, and digital artistry, I aim to create visually striking and thought-provoking pieces.
